Mike Ivy wins San Saba High School Alumni Association's 4th Annual Golf Tournament
Thursday, May 20, 2010 • Posted May 20, 2010

May 15, 2010 the Alumni Association held it’s fourth annual golf tournament in conjunction with the Annual Meeting.

With 37 players, this was the largest group to participate in the tournament and the Chair, Anita Miles and Co-Chair Mike Ivy, considered it to be a huge success with everybody having a great time of fun and fellowship. Anita welcomed the players and all participants were awarded a head cover with the announcement that everybody’s a winner at the Alumni Tournament!

The Co-Chair, Mike Ivy, had a great day by winning First Place with a blazing score of 56. Bob Whitten, Debbie Lee, Mike Connors, Ralph Wilson, and Roy Woodward were also on his team. This is a second win for the Mike Ivy Team!

Second Place went to a ladies team from San Angelo that had come to San Saba that morning to play in the 4-Lady Pecan Classic. They had captured first place in that tournament and asked if they could stay and play in the Alumni Tournament. They were welcomed into the tournament and had a fabulous score of 58.

The Third Place team, Thomas Ringo, Scott Ringo, Bradley Ringo, and Jimmy Shahan, shot a 58. They were bested by a scorecard play off.

Other teams participating were: David Potts, Wayne Riddle, Jerry Minter, Eddie Edwards, and Anita Miles - Tony Cantu, Anthony Cantu, Travis Ringo, Wayne Churchill, and Daniel Zapeda - Larry Hardin, Becky Hardin, Shirley Hardin, Sandee Hartley, and Rick Wilson - Greg Jackson, Rose Jackson, Bari McGilvray, and Tommy McGilvray - Keith Shahan, Nathan Shahan, Steven Shahan, and Sandra Baskin.

Mike Ivy very generously donated a prize for closest to the pin on two holes. His teammate, Ralph Wilson, won on the #7 hole, besting David Potts by inches, and our lady golfer from San Angelo, Susie Holder, won on the #11 hole. The Alumni Association appreciates the support of businessmen like Mike Ivy!

After golf the players were served a fabulous fish dinner by Betty Ann Johnson and her son, Tommy Johnson. Betty Ann spent her day at the San Saba River Golf Course, having served the ladies tournament in the morning and the alumni tournament in the afternoon. Betty Ann is like an honorary golfer!

The Alumni Association does so appreciate Keith Harris and his wife, Crystal, for all they do in making the tournament work! We couldn’t do without them and they make it fun for everybody! San Saba is so fortunate to have this pro managing our beautiful San Saba River Golf Course!

If you have never played in this tournament you should! It is just for fun and fellowship and you can bring your own team and play with your best friends or family. We always plan on dinner and dancing, but it seems like after dinner these old golfers aren’t up for dancing!

BUT MAYBE NEXT YEAR!
