Well, God has blessed us with a little rain and some beautiful days this past week. I am trying to get ready for the heat, but really not looking forward to it. I am hoping that it will stay about 70 for the whole summer, but I am doubtful.

I wanted to let you all know that there are couple of gentlemen who will be in town this week who are raising money to purchase books to help in our community policing programs. Last year we were able to get our first order in and we were able to get the program started. This year we want to put a book in each students hands, in every school and work with them on the subject matter pertaining to their needs. Working with our youth in the schools is the top priority of this office and it is where I believe we will do the most good. If you can, please assist us with this program this year. We would be grateful.

Wild Bill has been gone this week and we have been a little short of staff so if we have taken a little longer to respond to some calls, please bear with us and we will get to each call as soon as possible. We are in the process of hiring a new deputy and hope to be back up to full strength by the end of the month. We have been a deputy short for almost three months now and with Wild Bill gone, well, it has been a challenge.

We are moving forward with a lot of projects and have been really busy. The jail face lift has come to an end and work on the deputy's office will be moving forward. We are proud of how far we have come, but we still have a long way to go. District court will be this week with a jury trial coming up next week. I would like to remind everyone that when coming to court in San Saba County, please read the signs posted on all the doors and inside the elevator concerning items allowed in the courtroom. A few of the things to remember is that no weapons of any kind are allowed, no cell phones whether off or on are allowed and no briefcases or purses are allowed inside the courtroom unless you are an officer of the court and/or an attorney. Please check with the deputy on duty if you have any questions.

We will bring you more information as soon as possible and once again we want to thank you for all your prayers and support.
