Heart of Texas Cow/Calf Clinic set for May 25th

The annual Heart of Texas Cow/Calf Clinic will be held Tuesday evening May 25, 2010. It will be held at the Brown County Fairgrounds, located on highway 377 South, towards Brady. The Cow/Calf Clinic will start at 5:30 p.m. with a catered Bar-B-Q meal.

Beef Cattle production is the number one ag enterprise in Brown and most other surrounding counties. The Heart of Texas Cow/Calf Clinic is a long standing beef cattle program conducted by the Texas Agrilife Extension Service. It has the reputation for providing some of the most up to date information concerning cattle production.

Speakers for this year’s clinic include Dr. Jason Cleere, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist from Texas A&M University, and Mr. Jim Sartwelle, Texas Farm Bureau Public Policy Director from Waco. Dr. Cleere will discuss interpreting hay analysis from the commercial cattleman viewpoint and issues in today’s cattle producers face such as Trichomoniasis. Jim Sartwelle will discuss current beef cattle markets and overall cattle numbers.

The Heart of Texas Cow/Calf Clinic is open to anyone interested. Pre-registration by May 21st is requested for those who attend. There will be a $5.00 registration fee at the door. To pre-register or for more information contact the Brown County Extension Office at 325-646-0386.
