Hope all the mothers had a wonderful day Sunday. There was a crowd of folks all over Lampasas Sunday. All of the eating places were packed and over flowing with folks who were taking their wife or mothers out for lunch. There was a host of mothers who celebrated the day by not having to cook.

Lola Morris enjoyed her day by having lunch at the home of her son and his family. The two great grand kids Sean and Ethan Nixon of The Woodlands and granddaughter Amanda Morris were visiting Bobby and Phillip.

At the Methodist church Sunday a surprise birthday celebration was held for Lola Morris with ice cream and cake for everyone to enjoy and wish Lola a happy birthday.

William and Jane Clark had all their children except Boyd and his family in over the weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everyone pitched in and prepared the meals so that Jane didn’t have to do anything. Jane reported that she is doing better and will go back for a check up on the surgery at Scott and White Tuesday.

Dennis and Glenda Scroggins was in San Saba Friday night eating Bar-B-Q at Gages and Bill and Jo Price came in for a sandwich and joined the Scroggins.

Even though both families live at Bend they seldom see each other so it was a good time to catch up on all their news.

The family of Jim and OraBeth Hicks had a big celebration in San Saba Sunday at the home of Ruby Hicks. They celebrated birthdays and Mother Day in one big celebration. Jim reported that granddaughter Jimma Hicks who is a junior at Texas State will be leaving the last of this month for a two-month stay in Spain to do an internship in her field of Foreign Trade and is excited about the trip.

Jane Tinney reported that she had received cards and calls from all of her children and that she and Tommie stayed busy in their garden, and had a very nice Mother’s Day.

Bill Price went into Lampasas Monday morning for an MRI and Tommie Tinney went in that afternoon for the same thing. Bill went to see what was going on with his back and Tommie needed to see about his leg. They will know the results in about three days.

The Bend Community meeting will be Saturday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. The meal will be a covered dish supper and everyone is invited to attend. Please bring your favorite dish and/or dessert to be shared with everyone. This will be the last meeting until next September.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Bill Price who will celebrate his birthday May 16, Lesa Preece, Peggy Henniger and Terry Marley will be celebrating a birthday May 17, Wilma Jo Byrd will celebrate a birthday May 18, and on May 20, Dr. Marilyn Brister, Donna Struen and Rodney Steallings will celebrate their birthday.
