Set sail for Vacation Bible School
Thursday, May 6, 2010 • Posted May 6, 2010

Okay. We admit it. The idea of sending kids on an adventurous sailing trip in San Saba seems a bit far-fetched. But, when you take a look at the program being planned by the Methodist Church for Vacation Bible School, you won’t be able to resist having your kid, grandkid or other favorite child participate.

"High Seas Expedition" begins on Monday, June 28 and extends through Friday, July 2. Each day’s session starts at 9 am and ends at noon. Mark those dates on your calendar right now. This is too good to miss!

All kids ages 4 years through 6th grade are invited. The program features Bible lessons skillfully wrapped around a series of activities—crafts, goodies from the galley (like Chipwrecks and Peter’s Jail Mix), games, videos and lively music. All the activities reinforce the day’s Bible lesson so that at the end of the week the kids have learned a lot about the Bible and a lot about themselves. And, they’ve had a blast doing it.

When kids who’d been through the program were interviewed, they said the program was "so fun" and "cool." One young participant oozed with joy as he described his brand new "very, very best friend."

So, if you’re a grandparent, get those grandkids here for Bible School. If you’re a parent, take advantage of this important way to enrich your child’s summer. You don’t have to be a Methodist to participate. The program is completely free thanks to the generosity of the folks at the Methodist Church.
