We again missed out on the thunderstorms that were predicted this past week. We received .3 of an inch.

The rain did not interfere with the fish fry fundraiser at the VFD station last Saturday night. There was a large crowd turned out for it. The Busy Bee quilters donate a quilt to be raffled off at each VFD fundraiser. It was won by Max and Elodie Steger of San Saba.

The Cox Cemetery Association meeting was held last Saturday. June Beakley was re-elected as secretary-treasurer. The next meeting will be the second Saturday in September.

The 42 tournament will be this Saturday night at Shiloh. That is the same night as the Alumni Banquet here in town.

The Busy Bee quilters will meet May 11th.

The annual homecoming picnic will be Saturday, May 15th, at the community center in Elm Grove. Come prepared to spend the day visiting with old friends and making new ones as well as enjoying some really good barbecue. The working committees were printed last week. Be sure to check and find out what your job is.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Pete Smith. His funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist Church here in Richland Springs.

We were also sorry to hear of the passing of Howard Joyce of Brady. He was a brother of Grace Hardman. Services were held Monday afternoon in Brady. We send our sympathy to both of these families.
