The San Saba Lady Dillos sloshed, swam, scuba dived and backstroked through our District Track Meet two weeks ago in Early. To say the conditions were rough would be an understatement. It pretty much rained the entire day on Friday but we "bowed our neck" and competed well throughout the day. Once the rain cleared we had qualified three girls for Regionals. We had two girls who barely missed out on qualifying for Regionals as they placed fourth overall in their respective events. Overall I was pleased with our efforts over the two day meet. Our girls showed great Dillo Pride. Danessa Vasquez, Haylee Oliver, and Jennifer Anaya qualified for Regionals which will be held in Odessa. Alexa Maxcey and Johna Reavis finished fourth in their events and are Regional alternates which means they won’t compete at Odessa but are commended for a great effort over in Early. Last Friday we ran in Marble Falls for a Regional Qualifiers meet. The conditions were totally different from Early.

It was HOT, HOT without a drop of rain in sight. Good Luck to Haylee, Nessa, and Jennifer as they carry the Dillo Torch to Odessa in hopes of a State Track Meet Berth. Danessa will compete in the 3200 and 1600, Haylee will High Jump and Polevault and Jennifer will run the 200 meters. I was very pleased with our track team effort throughout the year. Our girls competed well at every track meet and we even claimed first at the Goldthwaite Meet which probably hasn’t happened here in San Saba, America in a long, long time. We may not have won first in every race but we made our competitors run hard to beat us. Great job ladies!!!
