The bluebonnets are on their last legs, but still very pretty especially where the paint brush and yellow flowers are mixed in among them. The rain that fell this past week amounted to eight-tenths of an inch around the Bend.

A bridal shower was held at the Bend community center Sunday afternoon for Eric Hernandez and Ashley Lowe of Lampasas.

Charlene Brister reported that Frances Morris, Mollie B., Andrew and great grandson Zander came for a visit April 14 to take pictures of the bluebonnets and visit with other members of the Brister family. Lunch was served to Emerson, Gladys, Vernon, Judy Brister, Bill and Evelyn Herman of San Angelo. Later that same evening a birthday supper was held for Mary Ann Perry. Those who attended were Wayland Perry, Patience and Brandon, Maycie and Tatum from Cherokee.

On April 24, the Leaning Bluff Lodge was the place for the wedding of Allen Brown and Jill Miller.

Wednesday a birthday supper was held in the home of William and Jane Clark for LaNell Daniels. Since Jane had the surgery, she recruited the help of Winnie Lou McCoury to help with the party. Friends and family that attended were Emerson and Gladys Brister of Thrall, Thomas and Sheila Smithhart, Rufus and Tommye Cobern, Vernon and Judy Brister of Cherokee, R.J. and Patsy Henniger, Dickie Eckhoff, Jamie, A.J. and Andrew Houdyshell. It was a surprise to LaNell as she thought it was just going to be William, Jane and herself.

Last week Jane had to go to Round Rock to have more work done on her foot. Ginger Underwood took her as Jane is not able to drive her car yet.

The "Yankee" Lester LeMaster twenty-third fish fry was held this past weekend down in Delta Acres. The first fish fry was held at the Sulfur Springs fish camp in 1987 and the first meet in Delta Acres was in 1996 where it has been held ever since. There was 141 attending this year. The oldest was Lille LeMaster 93 years of age. The couple Mark and Denita Blinn

of Alaska traveled the longest distance. In the game of dominoes Josh Cook and Jerry Payton took first place, second place went to Joe Cook and Lillie Cook, third place went to Lester LeMaster and Joe Cook. In the horse shoe toss, first place went to Skip LeMaster and Steve E., second place went to Dean LeMaster and Joe Cook, third place went to Henry Lemaster and Tommy LeMaster.

Henry LeMaster won the cash prize in the singles horse shoe toss. The trophy’s made by Joe LeMaster was awarded to everyone who won.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Millie LeMaster whose birthday is May 1, to Mark McCoury and Dalon Smith who will celebrate a birthday May 3,

Blain Adams and Shari Bryant will celebrate a birthday May 4, and to Jackie Brister and Kathy Lee whose birthday is May 5.
