Historical Museum Foundation to hold Annual Meeting May 2
Thursday, April 29, 2010 • Posted April 29, 2010

The San Saba County Historical Museum Foundation will hold its annual meeting at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday, May 2nd at the Museum in Mill Pond Park.

Our featured speaker will be Mary Irving, curator of the Lehnis Railroad Museum, in Brownwood, TX. Mary is a talented professional with wide experience in the operation of museums in Central Texas. She is important to our vision of the museums’ future: the Foundation has engaged Mrs. Irving to assist us in developing a comprehensive Master Plan.

It has been 45 years since the Museum founders established the San Saba County Historical Museum in one room at the courthouse. In 1965 the museum moved to Mill Pond Park and was housed in the Log Cabin donated by the Kenneth Kuykendalls and his father, Warren Kuykendall. The museum expanded again in 1977 enclosing the little log cabin in the rock and steel building. An extension was added in 1997. All this was done by the hard work of volunteers. Their funding came only from membership dues, donations and grants.

Being a member of the Museum Foundation provides the necessary financial support needed to provide the proper showcase and care for the many items of San Saba History entrusted to the Historical Museum. Not only is the history preserved for our youth, but each year these items are viewed by travelers from all across Texas, the country and the world.

If you have been thinking you would like to become involved with the Historical Museum please join us on Sunday. All who are interested in the museum are invited to attend.

After the program, refreshments will be served and you may view the exhibits, and visit.

Please join us as we continue to grow and find new ways to improve our museum.
