2nd & Wallace Church of Christ welcomes new minister

James Johnston is excited about moving to San Saba to be the new minister at the 2nd & Wallace Church of Christ. He and his wife, LuAnn, come to San Saba from Rosebud, Texas where he was the minister of the Church of Christ. While in Rosebud, he was also chaplain of the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department and assisted with the Angel Food Ministry.

James graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1977 with a degree in Bible. He did an internship with the Mount Vernon Church of Christ in Prescott, Arizona in the summer of 1976. He was the minister of the Eastside Church of Christ in Farmington, New Mexico in 1978.For the next thirty years he worked as the Director of the Academic Support Department at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas.

James has been on the board of directors of Family Counseling Services and on the United Way Speakers Bureau, and held many Parent Teacher Association positions in Lubbock Independent School District.

James and his wife, LuAnn, moved to San Saba on April 27th, 2010. LuAnn is a graduate of Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Radiology. She worked for Covenant Medical Center as an X-Ray Tech nologist and Information Services Coordinator for Imaging Services. She most recently worked as a substitute teacher and crew leader for the Census Bureau.nd & Wallace Church of Christ. Sunday morning Bible Class is at 9:45 a.m., Sunday worship times are at 10:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Wednesday Bible Class is at 7:00 p.m.

James and LuAnn have two children. Katie and husband Kevin Widmer of Taylor, Texas where she and her husband are school teachers. Scott is a December 2009 graduate of TarletonState University with a degree in Engineering.
