Ladies Golf Notes
Thursday, April 22, 2010 • Posted April 22, 2010

Last week, yours truly, must have been so excited about her win at the Senior Amateur Women’s Golf Tournament, that she failed to mention that Hattie Rogers had a tying win in the putting contest! And that was huge! Many ladies putted but few won! And when there was a tie, both ladies were 3½ inches from the hole and there was suppose to be a putt off but the lady had already left for the hotel, so Hattie said just let the other lady have the prize. That is Hattie Rogers! A beautiful lady inside and out and an example to all of us lady golfers! But since I was in charge, I made an executive decision and awarded both ladies a prize that was awarded at the banquet. So my apologizes for not reporting this in a timely fashion; but you know what, it won’t bother Hattie one bit, she’s just that gracious.

While I am throwing roses, I have to report what a splendid job the ladies did at the sandwich stand this past weekend. There were so few physically able to work but they baked brownies and made deviled eggs and did their part. And then there were those who worked at the sandwich stand that still have jobs, so giving up their weekend is sacrificial. And the girls that played in the tournament did their part helping when they weren’t playing and two ladies drive all the way over from the Brownwood area, so it was a group effort in deed! However, two ladies, Hattie Rogers and Jo Ann Snow, always work both days (and make me stay hours longer than I want to), buy the supplies, do the make ready and the clean up, and do it all so willingly. So special ‘thanks’ to Hattie and Jo Ann for once again a job well done! You two are the best!

As for me, I’d rather be "swinging!"
