San Saba FCCLA competes at state
Thursday, April 22, 2010 • Posted April 22, 2010

FCCLA went to state competition on April 8th - 10th. We had 6 groups competing and two testing. It was an amazing three day event. Thursday night our two testers (Diana Landeros and Bridgett Maldinado) took tests on FCCLA Mission and Creed; and Kristin Reynolds and Savanah Rios presented their project in Chapter Showcase. Friday morninng we started early with Tyler Lakey and Laken Miller presenting their "Take A Hand, Take A Stand" presentation in Applied Technology. Throughout the rest of Friday morning we waited as Katie Ross, Kayla Kutin and Mckenzie Hibler gave their presentation for Chapter Service; Celso Martinez and Reid Casco wowed the judges with their entrepreneurship plans for an Italian presentation; Natasha Hernandez, Rebeka Wright & Courtney Pryor showed off their Promote and Publicizing FCCLA; and Ana Gurerro and Gisela Rodriguez prepared their judges for Applied Technology Junior Division over Positive Teen Dating. "I couldn’t be more proud of all the students that competed and represented San Saba." said Mrs. Alesha Rogers, FCCLA Advisor.

Saturday morning we found out that Diana received a Bronze and Bridgett received a silver metal for their FCCLA Mission and Creed test. After lunch we waited to see how everyone else did. One by one, each catagory was called to stage, and with each group - we heard "San Saba.... San Saba..... San Saba."

"For all six teams competing, and all six teams placing at State is just amazing! San Saba has the best kids that I’ve ever worked with. Their amount of time and dedication really shows!" said Mrs. Rogers.

The teams that placed first in their division will continue on and represent San Saba and Texas at nationals in July. The teams are fund raising like crazy to raise money to attend the event. This year nationals will be held in Chicago, Illinois July 3 - 8. FCCLA will be doing a hamburger sale on the square May 1st. Pre-ticket sales are available starting April 19th.

Thanks to everyone in town that has supported our projects.
