It seems like winter weather will never go away. We keep on having cold, cloudy days. We have a fire in the fireplace right now! We are looking forward to some warm, sunny days.

We only had 11 people turn out for the community meeting last Saturday night. The plans were made for the Homecoming Picnic which will be May 15th. We will have a list of working committees next week. If you had a job last year, you can almost count on the same job again this year. There will be a few changes. Games of 42 were played after the meeting.

We had 6 members at the Busy Bee quilting day last Tuesday. They were Fay and Gloria Lusty, Irene Hammett, Grace Hardman, Carol Orr and new member, Debbie Phelan. We are glad to welcome Debbie to the group. Grace’s quilt was worked on and it will be brought back next month. I understand the VFD fund raising fish fry is scheduled for May 1st. That does not give much time for the raffle tickets on the quilt to be sold. Please try to see any member and buy as many as possible.

The Holt Cemetery meeting is set for this Saturday, April 24th. The meeting days are the last Saturday in April and the first Saturday in October. The business meeting will be at 9:30 AM. Donations or memorial gifts may be mailed to Pat Nehr 29 CR 416 Rochelle, Texas 76872.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of our friend, Avanell Rhoden, age 89, of the Holt community. Her services were held Sunday at the Howell Doran Funeral home in San Saba. We send our sympathy to Pat and Mike Wadsworth as well as the rest of the family.

Marilyn Suber and I made a trip to San Angelo Monday for an appointment with Dr. Rahman. Stacie Elizondo accompanied us to the doctor then we had lunch with Santos Elizondo and Holly White. They sure don’t have the wildflowers out that way that we do down here.
