Anita Miles wins second low net in the second flight of the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Association of Texas tournament held in Corpus Christi, Texas April 7-8, 2010! This was her fourth win in the Senior Women’s tournament and the ladies were all thrilled to have a winner! She was awarded the coveted silver medallion at the awards banquet.

Four ladies, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, Sandee Hartley, and Anita Miles, all attended the two day event. The ladies have been attending this tournament for several years and it’s always a treat to renew friendships and play golf at so many different courses across Texas. The organization plays twice a year and has around 100 ladies participating.

The day of registration the San Saba Ladies were in charge of a money making putting contest which proved to be great fun. Six awards were presented at the banquet for putting, along with the closest to the pin in each flight. This was a new addition to the activities, motivated by the San Saba Ladies.

Anita Miles serves on the board and had suggested that the second day an award should be given to the most improved player in each flight. The board agreed with this idea and this new award was put into action for the first time. It was very windy the second day and not many ladies improved their score, in fact, the fifth flight had no improved scores but Hattie Rogers was awarded the prize for only shooting one more stroke and in the Corpus Christi wind, that was commendable!

They stayed in the beautiful Embassy Suites and the banquet was held in the facility. After play the San Saba ladies always play cards and it was noted that Sandee Hartley finally won one game of ‘Play Nine’! Play Nine is a card game centered around golf that the ladies play during the winter season. It was a long trip but worth it as all the ladies had such a great two days of fellowship and golfing and having fun and they did do some "swinging"!
