San Saba County's Relay For Life this Friday and Saturday
Thursday, April 15, 2010 • Posted April 15, 2010

On April 16th at 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on April 17th, the Relay for Life of San Saba County will have its annual walk to fight against cancer. The event is to be held at Risien Park.

Because cancer never sleeps, the walk will continue all night. The theme of the 2010 Relay for Life is "United We Stand Against Cancer." This is a joint effort from the teams of the communities of San Saba, Richland Springs, and Cherokee.

The luminaria ceremony will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be a very special time to remember and honor those affected by cancer. If you are not walking with a team we encourage you to come for the luminaria lighting ceremony. You are invited to join with any team and walk to fight this dreadful disease.

To have a luminaria in honor or in memory of a special person, contact any team or Janiece Duggan at 622-4492, or you may take your donation to Arrowhead Bank.

The first lap at the Relay for Life will be our Survivors Lap. If you are a survivor of cancer, please come on Friday at 6:00 p.m. for that special lap. Join all of the survivors for dinner following the lap. Call Michele Whitley at 372-7588 for more information, or to RSVP for the dinner.

There will be raffles and items for sale at the Relay for Life. The night will be filled with singing and music, lots of fun and games. During the twelve hour event, you can support Relay for Life by buying chili dogs, sausage wraps, sausage on a stick, hamburgers, gumbo, jambalaya, perky jerky, breakfast tacos, pies and cakes, flavored coffees, and soft drinks.

Join in this great effort to fight cancer.
