TRUSTING CHRIST
Thursday, April 15, 2010 • Posted April 15, 2010

The Bible tells us we are responsible before God to believe the Gospel. The Gospel is the Good News that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world. He lived a life of sinless perfection in order to become a perfect sacrifice. He died on a cross to pay the penalty due to others for their lust, adultery, fornication, greed, theft, anger, hatred, murder and lies. He was raised from the dead to prove His sacrifice was acceptable to God.

The Bible teaches "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). This is the Good News of the Gospel. It is the Gospel in a nutshell.

God calls you to believe this Gospel. You are called to recognize your sin and confess it to God. You are called to place faith in Christ. You must believe that His sacrifice paid the penalty for your sin. On the basis of Christ’s sacrifice you ask God to forgive you. On the basis of Christ’s resurrection you ask God to give you the ability to lead a new life.

You are summoned to what the apostle Paul calls "the obedience of faith" (Romans 1:5). You are called to obey the Gospel and trust in Christ.
