Larry D. Sheppard

Funeral services for Larry D. Sheppard, 64, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Sheppard Chapel of Memories with Bro. Wayne Sage and Bro. Thomas Edwards officiating.

Burial followed at the Oakhill Cemetery in Lampasas, with Bro. Jack Riley officiating.

Larry was born March 12, 1946 in San Saba, Texas to the union of B.D. Sheppard and Eddie Cleo Munsell Sheppard.

He married Phyllis Marie Basham at St. Paul Methodist Church on February 18, 1967 in Breckenridge, Texas. They had been married 43 years, 1 month and 21 days.

He was a licensed funeral director and emblamer and owned and operated several funeral homes for 42 years in the west and central Texas areas.

Larry was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, and had served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in San Saba. He was a member of the Lion's Club and a former Copperas Cove City Councilman.

Larry is survived by loving family, Phyllis B. Sheppard of Copperas Cove, Texas; sons, Cody D. Sheppard and Jolene Alexander of Lometa, Texas; Bradley D. Sheppard and wife Holly of Temple, Texas; two grandchildren, Kenneth Jacob Sheppard of San Saba, Texas, Kristen Deann Sheppard of San Saba, Texas; his beloved Sheltie, Classie Clyde; brothers, Charles R. Sheppard and wife Mary of Crane, Texas; B.D. Sheppard, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Abilene, Texas; brother-in-law,Cody Phillip Basham and wife Zandra of Lone Tree, Colorado; nieces,Jana Backfisch and husband Dennis of Abilene, Texas; Michele Basham Lambertson and husband Curt of Grapevine, Texas; Stacy Basham Wagner and husband Bob of De Ridder, Louisiana; nephew, John Mark Sheppard of Abilene, Texas; great-neice, Britni Watkins and husband Floyd of Clyde, Texas; great-nephews, Jack May of Grapevine, Texas and Zane Wagner of De Ridder of Lousiana.

Pallbearers were Danny Wayne Shaw, Dwayne Shaw, Larry Shivener, Hal Harton, Robby Weatherby and Jay Manning.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Harkey, Travis Herring, Mike Poe, Buster Wells and Jack Dickison.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Mitzi Lee Sheppard.
