Richland Springs High School One Act Play advances to district

Close Ties was presented by Richland Springs theatre students in the Zone competition in Rochelle on March 24, 2010. The One Act plays from Richland Springs and Santa Anna were chosen as the plays to advance to the District meet on Wednesday, March 31st, in Coleman.

Five of the eight members of the Richland Springs cast received medals for their superior performances. Marsha McMillan, a senior at RSHS and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig McMillan, received Honorable Mention All Star Cast for her performance. Brooklyn McGinty, a freshman at RSHS and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McGinty, also received Honorable Mention All Star Cast. Kelyn Green, a senior and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stacey Green, was named to the All Star Cast. Sara Hedley, sophomore and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hedley, was also named to the All Star Cast. Emily Smith, junior at RSHS and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith, received Best Actress for her performance of the elderly grandmother. Other members of the cast are: Brennen McGinty, a junior and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McGinty, Haustin Burkhart, a senior and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Burkhart, and Elbert Thomas, junior and grandson of Edna Williams.

Serving as crew members during the show were these: Stephen Fowler, junior and son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fowler, Tommy Hollon, a junior and foster son of Ann Reyes, Ashley Ferguson, a sophomore and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferguson, and Jonathan Patino, a freshman and son of Sarah Patino. Alternates traveling with the group were Cheyenne Tharp and Katelynn Teel. The play was directed by Patsy Hall and Pam Starr. Lynn Green helped with hair and makeup.
