Ladies Golf Notes

March 11, 2010 was a fun day! The Ladies Golf Association met for play day and Hattie Roger’s 80th Birthday, which was March 10. Pat Ribb not only welcomed all the ladies to her beautiful home but prepared a delicious Mexican dish of Tallerina. All during play day there was whispering and plans as the idea was to surprise Hattie! Dorothy Sterner probably deserves the Academy Award as she told Hattie we had to go by Pat’s house before going to lunch, as she was going to have to go for some surgery and wanted to see all of us before she left. Poor Hattie, fell, ‘hook, line, and sinker’ and was so surprised! As she entered the front door the ladies burst into "Happy Birthday!" There was a delicious lunch and beautiful birthday cake and gifts and fun! Nobody deserves such a treat any more than Hattie Rogers! She is always in a good humor, always kind and loving, and just a great friend to all the ladies. And a special thanks goes out to Pat Ribb! She has so many health issues and yet rose to such an occasion and was so gracious to have us in her home.

For play day, the March Chair, Dorothy Sterner, called for team play using the traveling 4-ball point system. The team of Anita Miles, Hattie Rogers, and Becky Hardin defeated the team of Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, and Dorothy Sterner. Hattie had a great day on the links, as well as a great birthday party, making 43 points for her team and scoring the Low Net for the day. Anita scored the Low Gross for the day. But perhaps the big winner of the day was Jo Ann Snow who won the chip in pot! This is the second time in a row that Jo has won the chip in pot. Jo Anne Hardy and Bobbie Churchill followed the ladies and watched and joined in on the fellowship and party. Both of these ladies have health issues and are anxious to be back on the links!

Anita Miles has the new yearbooks and you may pick them up at your convenience. She will deliver most of them. Thanks to Nell McHorse for doing such a great job on the yearbooks!

The trees are blooming, the ducks are out there sunning and swimming, and we’re just loving to be able to be out there again in the sunshine "swinging!"
