We know the renewing of our mind is a gradual process that will eventually cause our mind to be transformed to be compatible with the mind of Christ. When you accept Christ as Savior, God gives you a new spirit, but your mind is your responsibility. We are told again in (Phillipians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.") If your mind becomes like a mind of Christ, the entity God created you to be will end your mortal status and you become immortal. Then God protects you; we know our bodies weaken, grow old, and will die, but our spirits can endure, and gain strength day by day. Our spirits must control our intellectual process to permit our soul to gain control over the flesh. (1 Cor 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.") Our bodies will desire things that will appear foolish to our soul and spirits, and it is our responsibility to keep those carnal thought out of our minds. Paul warns of that. (Romans 8:6 "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.") Also in (John 3:6 "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.") All this may become confusing unless we know there is a set law that cannot be denied or changed, causing everything to reproduce after its own kind. It applies to animal, plant, and human life, and in every kind of life in the entire world. Jesus taught it also applies to the spiritual realm of life. Flesh life can only reproduce flesh, and only the Spirit of God can reproduce spiritual life that can become eternal life.

Our soul is a gift from God that permits us to be eternal like Himself. There may be millions of souls in Heaven right now. (Rev 6:9 "And when he had opened the 5th seal, I saw under the alter the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.") Those souls can't be seen with physical eyes, and may not be larger than a dot like a period. But they can loudly call out to God, and He knows and communicates with each of them. That may be my imagination. Think as you wish, but I think God showed that to me. They will live forever.
