Thursday, March 11, 2010 • Posted March 11, 2010

San Saba Garden Club held their regular monthly meeting March 2nd at the club house in Mill Pond Park.

Those attending: Carol Orr, Dorothy Miller, Sandy Kuykendall, Rae Edwards, Nancy Nelson, Anna Wilson, Marcie Cooper, Imogene Hawkins, Noma Fitzgerald, Ella Pavich, Clione Rochat, Jane Randolph, Bonnie Harkey, Jeanne Sauer, Gail Bruner and Carol Littlefield.

The meeting was opened by President Anna Wilson, calling upon Ella Pavich to lead the Club Collect and Carol Littlefield to lead the Club Creed.

Dorothy Miller gave an informative Texas History lesson.

We all sang "Texas, our Texas" to celebrate our independence from Mexico. It’s a good thing we are good gardeners because we sure don’t sing very well!!

The minutes were read by Marcie Cooper, secretary, motions were made and vote taken to approve the minutes as read.

Carol Orr, Treasurer, gave the treasurer's report.

Under Committee reports, Carol Littlefield reported our Plant Sale on the square will be May 1st, because of Easter being so early in April.

Jane Randolph and Carol Littlefield gave a report on the Lasagna dinner, April 18th.

Anna Wilson reminded us about the Zone Meeting we will be hosting in 2011.

Anna also mentioned we would be visiting the Nursing Home March 17th.

Ella Pavich gave an enlightening talk and slideshow on Tender Loving Care for gardeners. Ella is a professor at the University of Michigan, and makes a talk about lotions, sunscreens and hats as interesting as watching Gregory Peck and Jennifer Jones in the movie "Duel in the Sun."

Thanks Ella, we love you!

The hostesses were Nancy Nelson, Dorothy Miller and Sandy Kuykendall. Great salads were served along with desserts.
