E. P. Garth, a longtime Texas broadcaster and former resident of San Saba, will hold a book signing for his recently published book Off the Air: A Pat Cassidy Novel at Harry’s Boots on March 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Garth will be on hand to personalize copies of his book which will also be for sale. The novel is the first of a series involving pulp fiction’s latest crime buster, Pat Cassidy.
When Pat Cassidy stumbles upon 1976 political corruption in Texas, he teams up with his best friend, newsman Brett Tucker. The result is murder and cover-up involving the most powerful politician in the Lone Star State.
The intrigue evolves around the fictional gubernatorial campaign of Texas billionaire Tom Calloway, the Mayor of Fort Worth, and Texas’ favorite son. In cahoots with union boss ‘Big Jake’ Riley, they conspire to steal the election for governor.
In his hometown of Fort Worth, Pat Cassidy builds a radio career after a successful amateur boxing career and a tour of duty in Vietnam. As the story begins, Pat overhears Calloway and Riley discussing their plans and confides in his friend. Brett, the WFTW Radio newshound, uncovers a source that has the goods on both Calloway and Riley. Brett’s evidence triggers a chain reaction across Texas involving murder and deceit.
Garth has already started on the second novel in the Pat Cassidy series, entitled Out of Touch. Expect to see it published in October 2010.
