March came in like a quiet lamb with a gentle rain leaving 3/4 " of rain Sunday night. The bluebonnets and all the wild flowers this year should be outstanding with all the moisture that we have had.

The white bass is biting and from all accounts the fishing has been good for catfish and even the lowly carp. Some report that if you know how to cook the carp it will provide some really good eating. You all know the recipe about putting it on a board and baking and then throwing the carp away and eating the board, but there really is a way to cook them and from all reports it is really a tasty dish, something like salmon croquette.

Jane Clark was in New Mexico last week visiting with relatives and friends there. She will have her surgery this month and won’t be able to make a trip anywhere for awhile, so she made the visit while she could. It is really going to be hard on Jane, not being able to get in the car and going when she gets the urge, but if the surgery will correct some of her problems she will be able to be on the road once again before too long.

Jolene Lively is much improved since last week. She is out of the soft cast, no swelling of her right hand, but still some stiffness in her wrist, and she is determined to go home once again.

Charlene Brister is going to have cataract surgery this week at the Scott and White hospital.

The domino players have been going over to play with Bernice Porter and that has helped lift his spirits. It is amazing how just a little game of dominoes will take your mind off of any problems you might be having. All of the above needs to be kept in your prayers, especially the domino players.

Lillie Belle Marley is pretty much home bound and it would really be nice if some of her friends would give her a call, if nothing more than to say hello and to inquire as to how she is. Some of us who are on the go don’t stop to think about someone who can’t get out very much. Just take a few minutes and give her a call.

Martha Alexander Glasson was buried Monday afternoon at the Sands Cemetery. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Alexander.

Happy birthday goes to Zachary Hickey who will celebrate a birthday March 5, to Jimmy Grant whose birthday is March 7, to Tyler Ford who will celebrate a birthday March 8, to Mickey Santos whose birthday is March 9, to John Bourke who will celebrate a birthday March 10 and to Michael Brister who will celebrate his birthday March 11.
