Thursday, April 24, 2008 • Posted April 24, 2008

The state competition was held in Corpus Christi April 2nd thru the 5th . This was the largest gathering of students for SkillsUSA in the past seven years with over 5600 students and 1500 advisors from all over the state of Texas.

Our San Saba chapter 3761 took three students in project competition where all three placed.

Kyle Anderson won a state superior ribbon with a 98 on his project and notebook. Kyle’s project was a raised panel room divider made of black walnut.

Brenda Gibson also won a state superior ribbon with a 90 on her project and notebook. Brenda’s project was a two piece cedar gun cabinet.

Reid Casco won a state excellent ribbon with an 88 on his project and notebook. Reid’s project was a white pine dining room table. Because of Reid’s active schedule at school, he was unable to work on his project after district competition and took his project, raw which gave him a lower score.
