The GED test will be given at Gatesville High School, March 9 and 10 in room 22. You must register to take the test Wednesday, March 3, in room 22 at Gatesville High from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. You need to bring with you, your Texas Driver's License or State or Federal Photo ID, Social Security card, and $65.00. The candidate will also need to bring their ID to the test. The registration will take about 30 minutes to an hour. If the candidate is 17, he needs to bring a guardian with him to register and also have withdrawal papers from the last school he attended. If you failed the test between 2002 and 2009 and need to retake one or more parts, each part costs $15.00 to retest and it must have been six months since you took the test or you have a letter from the instructor saying that you are ready to take the test. You will need to bring a copy of the previous test scores if you have tested before. If you are under 18, there are other requirements, also. The test will be given at 5:15 p.m. on both March 9 and 10. You must attend both nights to complete the test. You must bring ID with you all three nights. It usually takes about 4 hours each night for testing. If you are a new tester, there is one part of the registration you need to do on line at www.utk16.org/scoring (phone help line 512-475-9400, if needed). This is the first step toward testing. On the home page, the candidate will find a large link entitled "GED TESTERS: click here for the GED Demographic Form" in bold red text. Once testers click this link, they will find the clear, step by step instructions. The rest of the registration and paying to take the test must be done at Gatesville High School.
