Looks like we are going to have to pay for the last few days of nice warm weather. From all reports old man Winter isn’t through with us yet, as snow is in the works for us the last of the week.

By the time you read this it may well be time to have a snowball fight, or better yet build a nice snowman. We can always hope that this maybe the last big chill, but don’t count on it. Some of the fruit trees are showing signs of getting ready to bloom, which can be bad if they come out too early like last year. Keep your fingers crossed and just maybe everyone will have a nice crop of fruit this year.

The Bend community lost one of its oldest and original residents this past Friday. Foy Gibson was buried in the Sands Cemetery Monday morning. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and especially his family.

Deidra, Sean and Ethan Nixon of the Woodlands was in over the weekend visiting her parents’ Phillip and Bobbie Morris and grandmother Lola Morris.

Leon and Mebbie Eckhoff was in San Angelo this past week showing their sheep.

It is difficult for Bernice Porter to get out to play dominoes with all his buddies, so the guys are going to his home to play. Thomas Smithhart, Tommie Tinney, and Rufus Cobern played a hot game of dominoes Monday afternoon while LaFayne was away seeing her doctor. The family still needs to be in your prayers.

Stacey Hendrick is home and from all reports she is doing very well, which is good news.

The Bend community meeting went off as scheduled with a small gathering of friends and members who enjoyed the many different dishes of Mexican food and of course all the non fattening desserts that members always cook up. Who wants to count calories all the time, certainly not the Bend folks? OraBeth Hicks was the hostess and was assisted by other members who attended. Vernon and Judy Brister from the big city of Cherokee came with a big batch of Tamales, which everyone enjoyed.

The family council of Eventide will be holding their meeting at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, February 27, at the Rylander Library. Everyone is urged to attend who has a family member in the nursing home or if you have a friend there.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Julie Lackey who will celebrate a birthday February 26, and to Patrick Henniger who will celebrate his birthday February 28, and to Hugo Preece who will celebrate a birthday March 4.
