San Saba City Council holds Called Meeting

The San Saba City Council met for a Called Meeting on Friday, February 19th at noon in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Mayor Ken Jordan called the meeting to order and announced a quorum present.

City Police Chief, Ray Riggs, introduced new police officer, Jimmy Hill who started work on February 16th.

Ken Martin, representing the Corrosion Eliminator Company in Mineral Wells, was in attendance at the meeting and available to answer questions for the water tank repairs and re-coating.

The Corrosion Eliminator Company was the low bid from bids received from businesses from Kentucky, Minnesota, Illinois, South Dakota, Wisconsin and several others in Texas. After discussion, the Council approved the bid from Corrosion Eliminator Company for the Water Tank Repair and Re-coating. Martin will get the bonds, insurance and other papers as soon as possible and set a date for a pre-construction conference.

The following items were approved after discussion and comments:

1. Resolution No. 2010-06 to purchase -

a. A police vehicle - a Tahoe, equipped and ready.

b. A used garbage truck, double side entry - replaces the 1992 or 93 truck.

c. A new transfer trailer - large trailer to take refuse to Brownwood instead of many trips and not be overloaded.

2. Resolution No. 2010-07 to purchase two used mowers and one top dresser for the golf course - The $5,000 generated from the pecan trees at the Golf Course will be used for down payment on the top dresser.

3. Resolution No. 2010-02 - adopted and updated building codes, building permits and inspections within the corporation limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city.

Scott Glaze presented the Supervisor of the Quarter to Clifton Ott. Clifton has worked for the City over ten years and is Supervisor of the Street Department. He will enjoy his day off with pay and a $25 gift certificate from a local restaurant.

Mayor Ken Jordan adjourned the meeting.
