Would mention the weather, but as Sue Broyles says “all you have to do is look outside to see what is going on.”

There have been lots of reports of pecans that are falling to the ground, but the meat is all swiveled up inside and just not worth the time to pick them up. The little native pecans seemed to be filled out, but some of the improved varieties are just not all that good. Some of the trees still have a lot of leaves, as the little light frost last week didn’t do much in helping to get rid of the leaves. It is going to take a heavy frost to make the trees shed their leaves.

Lola Morris reported that the wedding of her granddaughter Jamie Morris and Dave Garrett went off as scheduled Saturday without any problems and the reception was attended by a large crowd of friends and relatives from both sides of the family.

Bad Bob’s Bend Store reported that the fishing this past weekend was good. Some white bass and channel cats were caught at the Colorado Bend State Park and the Barefoot Fishing Camp. Photos of the fish brought to the store can be viewed at WWW.badbobsbe ndstore.com.He also reported that starting this weekend a Hunters breakfast will be available Saturday and Sunday. He didn’t say you had to be a hunter, so you might assume that anyone that shows up and orders a breakfast will get the Hunters breakfast. It might just be a bowl of cold cereal, but we can assume it will be something more substantial, but with Bob you just never know. It just might be worth your time if you're around the Bend to check it out and listen to some of the fish tales.

Jerome and Shirley Meischen along with Johnnie Perkins and Sylvia Stinnett traveled to Georgetown Friday night to watch the Leander-Georgetown football game. Leander lost another one 28-21. Their grandson Blake Gideon played quarterback and safety, but in the third quarter he came down with a hip pointer, which is a very painful injury. The next morning after the game the doctor put him on crutches and told him to stay off it and that he might be able to play this next Thursday night. A tough break for Blake, but Jerome and Shirley and others will be there to cheer the team on and hopefully Blake will be back playing.

Elo Henniger is really feeling good these days and is back to shuffling dominoes once again. Sunday afternoon after church Bill, Jo Price and Barbara Jones stopped by and played three games. Jo and Barbara won two so that made them the big winner. Last Sunday it was a different story as Elo won two games out of three. It must be the luck of the draw.
