Melvin G. Collins

Melvin G. Collins, 82, of Burnet, passed away Sunday April 20, 2008. He was an Army veteran of WW II, European Theatre, and a 32-year employee of Texas Dept. of Transportation. He was a lifelong rancher who graduated from San Saba High School. Melvin was a member of First United Methodist Church of Burnet.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilmer & Ola Gage Collins; his brother: Jack Collins; and his granddaughter: Alison Ray.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Jeanette Collins; his daughters and their husbands: Sue and James Hurley, Austin; Jan and Ronnie Ray, Burnet; his sons and their wives: Ted & Diane Collins, Lenexa, KS; Roddy and Sandra Collins, San Saba; Todd and Tammy Collins, Burnet; his sister: Marjorie McDowell, San Saba; his sister- in-law: Dortha Collins, Lampasas; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Burnet, with Rev. Ellen Ely & Rev. Buddy Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Burnet TX.

Services are under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home, Burnet Texas.
