This past week the Dillo baseball team played 2 games. On Tuesday the JV and Varsity played at Bangs in a crucial District 6-2A matchup. The JV lost in the first game, while the Varsity secured a playoff spot by beating the Dragons 8-2. Robert Pulatie pitched a great game throwing all seven innings. He allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, 5 hits, 1 walk and 1 hit batter. Offensively, John Henry, Robert Pulatie, Davey Wright, and Derek Sears each had 2 hits. Henry had 2 doubles and 4 RBI’s. Luke Haug and Travis Hawkins each added a base hit.

Friday, the Varsity and JV welcomed the Early Longhorns to town. In front of great crowds the JV beat Early 8-1. All the young men did well and competed.

The Varsity also won beating Early 10-0 in 5 innings. Blake Lewis threw a no-hitter while striking out 10 batters. John Henry continued with the hot bat with 4 RBI’s with a grand slam homerun. Trey Tinney had 2 RBI’s to add to the lead. This win guaranteed the Dillos 2nd place in district with a 9 and 4 record in 6-2A. The Dillos are 17-8 overall.

We will play the 3rd place team in District 5, which will be with Merkel or Coahoma. All the details of this future playoff game will be available next week.

Thanks to all of you who came out and supported the team against Early and all season long. The Dillos are looking forward to the playoffs!
