Coyote Pride

The District 29 champion Richland Springs Coyotes (16-1, 11-0) secured the top seed from the district and a bye into the area round of the playoffs with Friday’s 56-41 victory over the Eden Bulldogs. The Coyotes played their last district game at Richland Springs gym at 6:30 this past Tuesday. It was Senior Night for the senior basketball players, Randy Couch, Haustin Burkhart and Chris Shireman (mgr). The boys have a bye in round 1 of the playoffs and Coach Rogers has scheduled a tune-up game this Friday (2-19-10) at Brownwood High School gym at either 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. against Blackwell. The area playoff is Feb. 26th against a team yet to be determined; either San Perlito, San Isidro, Leaky or Utopia.

College bound seniors are busy filling out the F.A.F.S.A. and completing ACT or SAT testing. Senior males must register with the Selective Service at their 18th birthday to be eligible for student loans and grants.

Spring is approaching and tornadoes become a possibility. The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo encourages all residents and schools across West Central Texas to practice their tornado warning drill on Thursday, February 25th at 9:30 A.M. The NWS in San Angelo will transmit a Special Message through the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Thursday, February 25th at 9:30 A.M. Richland Springs ISD will participate in a tornado drill on February 25 in conjunction with the NWS broadcast.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
