Valentine’s Day started out really nice at noon the temperature was in the high 60’s and by 1:00 p.m. the dark clouds started forming and by 2:00 p.m. the temp had dropped down to the 40’s and with the wind it seemed colder than that. It was reported that the temperature for February was an average of 8 degrees lower than usual, which wasn’t any big surprise to all of us around the Bend.

Bad Bob’s Bend Store reports that some nice catfish and some large carp have been caught using night crawlers and he has the pictures to prove it. He also reported that the Buchanan lake level is up higher than it has been for several years. The white bass fishing should be some of the best this year. If fishing isn’t your cup of tea, come out to the Bend and sit in on the jam sessions that take place Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Bad Bob’s Bend Store.

Bob and Doris Poe from Lometa was out visiting with Lola Morris Sunday. The family members of Moody Henniger are responsible for the Henniger reunion this year and Doris was picking up some items from Lola to use for the reunion in August.

Amanda Morris and her boyfriend were in over the weekend. Schools in the Ft. Worth area were closed Friday because of the weather, so Amanda who is a teacher took advantage of the long weekend and returned home to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her family. She prepared the lunch Sunday for the family and her grandmother Lola Morris.

The family of Bernice Porter is doing well as can be expected and prayers are needed for the family. LaFayne came through her surgery okay, which was good news.

Chris McDaniel was taken into the Rollins-Brooke hospital in Lampasas three different times by ambulance after suffering symptoms of a heart attack and each time the doctors couldn’t find what the problem was, but he did learn that his heart was good, which was good news, but no answer to what the problem was.

Rufus and Tommie Cobern attended the Valentine Party Sunday at the Eventide Nursing home and his mother Lillian Cobern enjoyed the ice cream and cookies as did all the other residents.

The family council of Eventide served ice cream, cookies and soft drinks to the staff and visiting families and friends.

The Bend Community will hold their monthly meeting February 20 at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will consist of Mexican food. Everyone is welcome and asked to bring their favorite Mexican dish and/or dessert.

Jane Clark is scheduled to have knee surgery next month. It is hoped that the surgery will help correct the pain and discomfort that she has been having for some time.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Kanton Keeney who will celebrate a birthday February 21, to Jane Tinney and Nana Marley who will celebrate their birthday February 22.
