Thursday, February 18, 2010 • Posted February 18, 2010

The Bend-Chappel Extension Education Club meeting was held Monday, February 8, 2010 with president Mary Jane Dennis presiding.

Everyone welcomed new member Shannon Evans. Shannon lives at the Colorado Bend State Park.

A nice thank you letter was received for the Christmas gifts that were given through the Dove Project. The recipients were very grateful for everything and wanted the club to know how much they were appreciated.

There are several projects coming up that members need to know about and help with if you were not at the meeting.

For the March meeting each member will bring items that can be sent to a solider. Some ideas are sugarless gum, breakfast bars, pecans, hand cleaner, etc.

For the May event the club will make a spice basket for the silent auction. Please bring a spice of your choice to be added to the basket.

Phyllis Poehlmann will have the program for the March meeting. Please bring flower seeds to be used in the seed packets Phyllis will be making.

Time change for the March meeting will be one hour earlier. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. instead of the usual 2 p.m.

Carolyn McDowell gave a program on Lasagna Gardening. It is a very easy way to garden without digging. Using this method the beds can be made right on top of the grass.

The meeting was held at the beautiful new Leaning Bluff Lodge at the Barefoot-Brister Fishing Camp overlooking the Colorado River. Charlene Brister was hostess with Dean Brown co-hostess.

The next meeting will be held on the 8th of March. Everyone is invited and new members are welcome.
