Lady Dillo Basketball Report
Thursday, February 11, 2010 • Posted February 11, 2010

The San Saba Lady Dillos clinched a playoff spot last Friday night as they downed the Comanche Maidens by a score of 54-48. All I know at this point is that we’re in the playoffs but we don’t know who we’ll play or where. Against Comanche we came out and really played well in the first half. We lead 16-6 after one stanza and took a thirteen point lead into halftime with a 30-17 advantage. We applied great pressure early and got some easy baskets. After halftime was a different story. We went stone cold in the third quarter and let Comanche back in the game as they outscored us 16-3. The Maidens actually lead us by five early in the fourth quarter until we woke up and found our shooting touch. We got the score tied up with about five minutes left and never looked back. Haylee Oliver lead us in scoring with 19 followed by Nessa Vasquez with 15 and Nicole Sears with 13. The last two years Comanche has really played us tough. One problem they pose for us is their size. They have big guards which causes us to change some things a bit, nevertheless, we accomplished our goal of getting back to the playoffs and these girls are to be commended for a great job and great effort all year. Team members are Silvia Jimenez, Nicole Sears, Haylee Oliver, Nessa Vasquez, Bianca Zepeda, Jaena Edwards, Tarah Crosby, Johna Reavis, Ashley Pulatie, Karlee Cromer, and our main man Marshal "Dillon" McItosh. When this article comes out we will have played Coleman. Here’s how the playoffs scenarios would work out. If we beat Coleman then we would play Early in Hamilton on Friday to determine first and second. If we lose to Coleman then we are tied with Bangs and would most likely flip for second and third. If we win the District title then we get a bye and wouldn’t play until Feb. 19th most likely. If we go as second or third we would play most likely on Feb. 16th against either Jim Ned or Ballinger. Jim Ned and Ballinger will have played this past Tuesday as well. If Ballinger wins they will go as the #2 seed, if Jim Ned wins then Ballinger and Jim Ned will playoff for second and third so there’s still a great deal up in the air. For us to get to Early again we must win so hopefully we will have taken care of business this past Tuesday. The Litte Dillos did awesome on Saturday as we captured two wins. We had the "run and holler, shoot and foller" offense operating on all cylinders. These little guys scored over 30 points in each game. I was proud of them and a "good time" was had by all. Bundle up and keep warm as Old Man Winter keeps hanging around. God Bless/ "MOE"- Phil 4:13
