Thursday, February 11, 2010 • Posted February 11, 2010

The Kerrville Performing Arts Society (KPAS) is pleased to announce its annual KPAS Performing Arts Scholarship Auditions for 2010. The Mission Statement adopted by the KPAS Board of Directors states that KPAS is to promote and present professional level performing arts, to provide outreach workshops to community schools and organizations, and to offer scholarship aid to area students pursuing higher education in the performing arts areas of instrumental music, vocal music and dance. Since the early 1980's KPAS, a 501(c) (3) organization, has been offering scholarships to students from the Texas hill country that are pursuing a career in the performing arts. The KPAS Education/Scholarship Committee, chaired by Lorna Auld, have scholarship packets available at this time.

Students interested in applying for this fine arts scholarship will find the KPAS information, including all necessary forms, at the KPAS website, www.kpas.org. Students may also request information by leaving a message on the KPAS Telephone Message Line at 830-895-5727. Scholarship information is available from local school music teachers and high school counselors who provide great assistance to KPAS in notifying the students of these performing arts scholarships.

The deadline for the scholarship application is March 19th. The scholarship auditions are scheduled for March 27, 2010, and will be adjudicated by local artists. The scholarship winners will be announced following the auditions and the scholarship winners will be recognized at the final KPAS performance of season.

Last season, KPAS awarded scholarships to Blake Turner, violist from Bulverde; second place went to Jackie Stevens, a vocalist from Kerrville; and Kevin Dugat, a trombonist from Tivy High School, received the third place award.

If you have any further questions about the KPAS Scholarship Program, or the KPAS Season Ticket information, please call and leave a message at the KPAS Message Center at 830-896-5727 or visit www.kpas.org.
