Woke up Monday with a heavy frost, which was not expected, but neither was the cold windy front that blew in Saturday, but with the front two-tenths of rain was received by some in the Bend area. Everyone has to remember this is Texas and you know what they say about the weather. Last week spoiled some of us, with all the nice warm days. Just be thankful you were not in California or Arizona this past week. We complain, but then wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Kerry Marley of Katy was in over the weekend visiting his mother Tommye Cobern and trying to get some more work done on his Pontiac Ventura that he has been restoring for some time now. The weather wasn’t the best in the world, but Kerry didn’t let a little thing like the weather slow him down.

Recent visitors in the home of Lola Morris were relatives’ Leibert and Elenor Brune of Industry, Texas whom she hadn’t seen in a long time. Saturday Dorothy Morris of Round Rock and her sister Bernice of Deer Park paid a visit to Lola and spent the day catching up on all the news.

Saturday, January 30 will be the first meeting this year of the Family Council of Eventide. The meeting will start at 10:15 a.m. and everyone who has a relative or friend in the nursing home is encouraged to attend. The council’s main purpose is to provide support and to improve the quality of life for the residents of the nursing home.

Bill and Jo Price were at the Lampasas Rehab and Nursing home to play their usual game of dominoes with Elo Henniger Sunday. They took time out and visited Jolene Lively and Amy Stewart of Copperas Cove who was there visiting with her grandmother. Jolene reported she is doing as well as can be expected, but really trying to regain her mobility so that she can return home soon.

Monday LaNell Daniels went to the Rollins Brook hospital for some tests. She had plenty of support from the home front, both of her sisters Gladys Brister of Thrall and Jane Clark went along to give support. After the tests the girls will hit the road to the nearest café to replenish their strength, as everyone knows with most tests you have to have an empty stomach.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Dickie Eckhoff who will celebrate a birthday Friday, January 29, to Vickie McDaniel whose birthday is January 30, to Josh Shoemake who will celebrate a birthday February 1, and to Amanda Morris who will celebrate a birthday February 2.
