James T. Kelly passed away on December 21, 2009 in Bakersfield, California. He was born on September 28, 1920 in his family ranch house in San Saba, Texas. Daddy spent many happy years raising prize winning heifers. His family also had a small dairy where he got the nickname Buttermilk. He played high school football for the San Saba Armadillos. He loved the 49ers. After high school he joined the Navy and in September of 1941 he went to Pearl Harbor and was stationed on the submarine base during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

While stationed in Bremerton, Washington he met his wife Tiny and they were married on Jan. 7, 1950. They enjoyed traveling and they loved to dance. Daddy was an avid golf player and played in many local tournaments.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Tiny of 57 years; his mom, Dona Kelly; his sister, Dorothy Schoenbacher. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Graves and husband Tommy; daughter, Donna Rodeen and husband Victor; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel.
