Avolt Louie "Al" Behrens

Al Behrens, age 85, of Austin, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010. He was born on September 17, 1924 in Wallace Creek Community, San Saba County, Texas to Louie A. and Helene Dodzuweit Behrens. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommie, and son Richard Behrens.

Many years of his life were spent in the construction and excavating business building roads, streets, and sub-divisions throughout Travis, Williamson, and Hays Counties. Al was blessed with the ability to repair most anything, especially Caterpillar equipment. He trained several of his employees to operate and repair equipment, enabling them to form their own companies. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and to him it was a great pleasure to go to the job each day. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

In the summer of 1944, Al met the love of his life, JoNell Spivey in San Saba, Texas. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2009.

Al is survived by his wife JoNell Behrens, sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Linda Behrens, Rowena, TX; Gregg and Rhonda Behrens, Marble Falls, TX; Loren and Nicole Behrens, Pflugerville, TX; and daughter Audra Lyn Behrens and Joe T. Arredondo Jr., Leander, TX.; 12 Grandchildren LaGina Evans, Heather Levensailor, Kyle and Kristi Behrens, Nicki Behrens, Fallon Behrens, Anthony, Lara, and Keith McNeeley, Melanie Wade, Logan and Mikayla Vandemark, and 6 Great-Grandchildren, Caleb, Will and Olivia Evans, Dylon Jackson, Brittney Levensailor, and Stella JoLyn McNeeley.

Al was greatly loved by his family and friends. He will be missed so much for he brightened each and every day with his vibrant personality and energy.

The family of Al Behrens wishes to thank Odyssey Health Care for their care, love, and compassion during his illness.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
