Thursday, January 14, 2010 • Posted January 14, 2010

The Bend-Chappel Extension Education Club met on Monday, January 11, 2010 in the home of Winnie Lou McCoury.

Since this was the first meeting of the new year, the 2010 yearbooks were passed out, discussed and hostesses filled in for the upcoming meetings.

Roll call was answered with "What is your best 4-H memory?" It was amazing how many could remember what they learned in 4-H over sixty years ago and what ribbons were won for various entries. Some told of teaching sewing to the young girls of the community in later years. 4-H has played a valuable role in our county for many years and continues to do so today.

Lucy Wilson was selected to be the delegate to attend the district meeting in March.

President Mary Jane Dennis presented the program to eleven members. The program was about how to reduce our Carbon Footprint. It was agreed we needed to try harder and encourage others to do so. Some of the easy and simple ways is to use less of everything..............water, electricity, plastic, gasoline, etc. and to recycle, recycle, recycle.

The February meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th at the Barefoot/Brister new Leaning Bluff Lodge. New members and visitors are welcome.
