There is an unseen spiritual world around us. "Our struggle is not with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness" (Ephesians 6:12). This spiritual realm of wickedness is led by "the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). "He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him" (John 8:44). He is "your adversary the devil" (1 Peter 5:8).
What is the devil’s desire? He "prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). He is a thief and "the thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy" (John 10:10). Yes, the devil is "your adversary" and his desire is to deceive you and to make you miserable. He wants to lead you away from God in order to destroy you.
Jesus Christ saves you from the lies, misery, and destruction of the devil. "The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Join those who come to God through faith in Christ saying, "He delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son" (Colossians 1:13).
