The district will continue benchmark testing in math after the Christmas break in hopes to improve student scores on the fast approaching TAKS testing. Students who don’t pass the benchmark tests may be assigned mandatory after-school TAKS tutoring until they can pass the TAKS tutoring benchmark. Come visit with your child’s teachers and get involved in your child’s education.

The Lady Coyotes basketball team is now 6-4 on the season. The Lady Coyotes won the consolation bracket at the Rochelle tournament, losing the first game by 2 points and winning the next two games. Marsha McMillan was selected all-tournament in the Rochelle tournament. The Coyotes will compete in the Cherokee tournament to be held December 10-12. The high school boys began practice this week. The junior high girls are 0-3 and the junior high boys are 1-2. Both teams played at Cherokee this past Monday.

FFA members distributed the fresh fruits this week as part of the annual FFA fundraiser. The fruits are always delicious and are great healthy, holiday snacks. Mr. McKee reminds all competitors to exercise their show animals. The San Saba County Stock Show beginning on Friday, January 15

There will be a special Christmas program, and an elementary and junior high UIL academic awards program beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 17

The holidays are upon us. School will release at 12:54 on Friday Dec. 18, 2009 and school resumes for students on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Faculty and staff report for a workday on Monday, January 4, 2010

Richland Springs’ students in grades K-3 are getting ready for Santa Claus. They sent letters to the North Pole this week.

There is also a community Christmas program, Rose of Bethlehem, presented at the First Christian Church in Richland Springs on Sunday, December 13

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success.
