Thursday, December 10, 2009 • Posted December 10, 2009

Calvary Baptist Church of Hamilton has announced that everyone is invited to attend its annual Christmas candle lighting service scheduled for Sunday, December 13th, beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m.

The program, which lasts about an hour, will feature traditional Christmas carols, soloists, and an audio-visual presentation.

"There will be plenty of congregational singing," Suzy Thames said. "And, this program is guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit."

Each attendee will be given a candle as they enter, and it will be lighted at the conclusion of the service.

The service will begin in total darkness, but will gradually become lighted by candles placed throughout the sanctuary.

"We’ve got scores of candles all over the auditorium," Thames added, "and as the program progresses, more and more candles will be lit. It’s going to be beautiful."

Some thirteen musical selections will be performed, many of them offered as congregational singing. Four songs are presented by soloists, including an original Christmas song written by two young church members, Krystal and Laurie Misner.

"This promises to be a very touching program," Thames added, "and hopefully, will be one of the highlights of your Christmas season."

Calvary Baptist Church is located at 161 East Highway 22, about a mile past the city limits.
