November 29, 1984

Mrs. Connie Moore has been appointed San Saba Chamber of Commerce Manager. Connie and her husband Wayland has two sons, Brandon age 6, and Eric, 4.

San Saba County Sheriff Brantley Barker, stated that the sheriff's office will begin immediately to issue citations to any unauthorized person appearing at the scene of a fire and hindering firemen from performing their duties.

The Deer Round-Up Contest, headquartered at San Saba Produce, has over 700 hunters registered to participate in the contest. Hunting season officially opened Nov. 17 and will continue to Jan 6.

During a meeting held November 26, several concerned citizens met with San Saba County Commissioners and voiced their concern for the welfare of San Saba Memorial Hospital. In other business, Commissioners opened 2 bids for roof repair of the San Saba County Courthouse. Brown Construction of Goldthwaite submitted a bid of $27,350 and Ledger Construction Company of Belton's bid for $21,228.

December 5, 1940

The State Highway Commission in Austin has approved the petition to designate the Richland Springs road, north to Brownwood a state highway.

Coleman Burnham, San Saba County tax assessor-collector, reports that the poll taxes issued this year since the first of October number 491, as compared to only 436 for the same period last year.

Clarence Gosch Jr. of San Saba and Jimmie Jones of Richland Springs, who represented San Saba county's first draft quota last month, have recently been transferred from Dodd Field, San Antonio, to Fort McIntosh, near Laredo.

W.M. Campbell, superintendent of schools at San Saba, announced Tuesday that installation had been completed on the schools' inter-communication system, with connections from his office to all rooms in the grammar school and high school buildings.

December 2, 1909

Hon. G.A. Walters, president of the San Saba Chamber of Commerce, will head the San Saba delegation attending the West Texas Development Congress at San Angelo.

The work of drafting the field notes for the boundaries has been completed for an election on the incorporation and the matter will be presented to Judge Hartley within the next few days.

Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Dickerson returned Monday from their visit and hunting trip to Mills County.

Miss Margaret Booker, after a visit to her cousin, Mrs. Eva Murray, returned home last week. Mrs. Murray and Dr. Lindley accompanied her as far as Lometa.

A.J. Reavis, the Postmaste-merchant of Locker, and father, W.P. Reavis, were in town Wednesday.
