JV Lady Dillos off to a great start
Thursday, November 26, 2009 • Posted November 26, 2009

This year our JV Lady Dillos have got off to a fantastic start. The following girls are on the JV team this year: Taylor Smith, Anita Gamboa, Paige Chambers, Paige Faught, Ashley Pruitt, Joannah Crosby, Alexa Maxcey, Kayla Kutin, and McKenzie Hibler.

Our first game of the season was against Brownwood on November 10

We traveled to Llano last Tuesday night for a battle against them. The score was close the whole game but we were able to play great defense and come away with some steals to seal the win. We won 25-19. McKenzie Hibler led all scoring with 7 points followed by Paige Faught with 6 points. Also scoring was Paige Chambers with 3 points, Alexa Maxcey with 2 points, and Joannah Crosby with 1 point.

Thursday morning we started our tournament play at 11:30 a.m. We played Mason’s JV for our first game. We came out and got after them and never looked back. We played great defense once again. We beat Mason by 8. (28-20) Joannah Crosby led all scorers with 18 points. Following her was Taylor Smith with 4 points and Paige Faught, Kayla Kutin, and Paige Chambers each had 2 points.

On Saturday morning we played Brady. Needless to say, both teams were pretty exhausted from the football games the night before and the travel. The girls came out a little slow in the first half. At the end of the first half we only had 2 points. That is very uncharacteristic of us. Second half was a little better, but we could never really get going. I was proud that the girls never gave up and fought the whole game. Also, I was proud of the girls who came off the bench to give the girls a break. We fell to Brady 23-16. Joannah Crosby led scoring with 8 points. Alexa Maxcey was next in scoring with 4 points while Paige Chambers and Ashley Pruitt each had 2 points. We ended the tourney with a second place plaque.

I would like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with the tournament and mainly everyone who helped me with the hospitality room. I couldn’t have done it without your help!! Also, I would like to congratulate Coach Pannell, his staff, and the football team on an AMAZING football season. They had an awesome year!! Congrats to the Lady Dillos who are the 2009 San Saba Tourney Champs. I am so proud of you girls!!

We will have one game this week before heading out for the Thanksgiving holidays. We will travel to Harper Tuesday night for a game against them. Hopefully we were able to pull out a win heading into the holidays.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! We will resume play on December 1

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

th. We ended up beating them by a score of 38-23. Our next game we played Winters. We came out very rusty and a little lost, but ended up beating them 32-9.st as we play Merkel at home beginning at 4:00 with JV girls.
