GOD'S WORDS
Thursday, November 26, 2009 • Posted November 26, 2009

I like a good meal. I have one of the best cooks in Cherokee. I enjoying eating all kinds of foods. Soon we will be sharing in a thanksgiving meal. Many people will have turkey and dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls of some kind, pies, etc. My mouth is watering just thinking about it (I also believe I gained a pound).

Jeremiah was a spokesman for God. In the book that bears his name he wrote, "Your words were found and I ate them, and your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart…" (15:16) I read this again the other day and was impressed, again.

Jeremiah preached to Judah about their coming downfall. He spoke the truth of God’s Word and people did not like it. At the same time others were preaching things the people wanted to hear. Although their message did not come from God they said it did. The people delighted to hear these false prophets and did everything they could to quieten Jeremiah, who spoke God’s message.

Jeremiah said, "Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart." Can you say these same words? When you go to the Bible to read it, is it a "joy and a delight"? Or is it a chore? Is it something you may do but do grudgingly? Jeremiah had the kind of attitude that each of us needs to have. We need to go to the word of God and enjoy listening to God speak to us.

We are a busy society with much to do. Sometimes there are so many things that we may not take time to let God speak to us. Are we too busy to hear the voice of God in our lives?

Jeremiah said His words were a delight, a joy. If you have not been reading God’s book, today is the best time to start. Let His words be a joy and delight to you. And let His words be the guide for all of your actions and thoughts. As for those who spend this time with God, isn’t it better than a big juicy steak?
