The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met April 10, 2008 for the monthly business meeting with the following ladies present: Bobbie Churchill, Nell McHorse, Hattie Rogers, Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, Sandee Hartley, and Anita Miles. Pat Ribb joined the ladies for a few holes of golf and lunch.

The President, Anita Miles, called the meeting to order and the Chaplain, Nell McHorse, opened the meeting with prayer. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes for February and March and they were approved as read. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report.

In the absence of Jo Anne Hardy, Anita Miles gave an update on the painting of the tables and benches.

The 4-Ball Chair, Sandee Hartley, announced that the Traveling 4-Ball will be in Fredricksburg, Texas at the Lady Bird Course on April 17, 2008. You need to contact Sandee if you plan to attend.

Hattie Rogers reported on the catering for the Spring Four Lady Tournament and the ladies reviewed their responsibilities for that tournament. The City National Bank will be sponsoring this tournament, as they have for the last several years. We are most appreciative of the generosity of the City National Bank!

It was announced that the ladies will have the sandwich stand for the men’s golf tournament on April 19 and 20 and all members are expected to work. With so few active members it is imperative for a member to feel obligated to work on this event.

Anita Miles announced the success of our High School girls golf team! They captured second place at district and will be going to regional; but even better, San Saba had the first and second place medalist. Shelby Hardy won first and Megan Cisneroz second! What a feat for our girls! Shelby has been leading and doing battle with a girl from Wall all season and Megan came from behind shooting a blazing 69 at the last tournament for her win. We are proud of our young lady golfers!

Anita Miles has been unanimously elected by the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Association of Texas as a member at large to serve on the board. Many of the ladies are active in this organization and submitted her as a candidate.

The meeting adjourned for play with the April Chair, Jo Ann Snow, calling for a game of even holes less half your handicap. First place went to Sandee Hartley and Second place went to Jo Ann Snow. Jo Ann had one of her best days shooting the Low Gross and Low Net for the day! Great day in the sun for Jo Ann! Obviously she’s been “swinging”!
