The rain fell as predicted on Sunday. A half inch was reported by Bill Price and Pennye Pierce reported she received two and two tenths inches of rain. The cloud was hanging heavy over the southern part of Lampasas county and down toward the Park area.

Jane Clark went in for a stress test last week and will be going in Wednesday to get the results. She did something to her back and is having lots of pain and discomfort. She reported that Debbie Marceaux of Cherokee broke her leg and went to Scott & White in Round Rock and was to be home by Tuesday.

Many thanks go out to Jim Hicks who will be putting flags on the veteran’s graves at the Colony cemetery and to Bobbie Morris who will be putting flags over the ones in the Sands, Bend, High Valley and Chappel cemetery.

Rufus Cobern is getting back into the swing of things, attending the Thursday night game and attending church. He and Tommye enjoyed the company of Kerry Marley this past week. Kerry had a week of vacation and it was spent in Bend working on the car he is restoring. Rufus reported it shouldn’t be long before he will have it finished. This weekend Jeffery, Tanya and Ashley Chalfant of Cedar Park were also visitors in the home.

LaNell Daniels has been very ill this past week, but is reported to be improving.

It was reported that Tommy and Mitzi Pulatie went to Killeen Sunday and while there attended a movie, which they enjoyed very much.

The Bend Community lost another member of the community Saturday. Carolyn McCoury will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was well known in the county. She was buried in the Chappell cemetery.

A birthday party was held in the home of Jim and OraBeth Hicks for their daughter Elana Hooten Sunday. Eleven members of the family attended to help her celebrate the event.

Happy birthday wishes go out to A.J. Houdyshell who will celebrate his birthday November 14.

Congratulations go out to Raymond and Lewvon Hicks who will celebrate their anniversary September 18, and to Emerson and Gladys Brister who will celebrate an anniversary September 19.
