David Evans

Surrounded by his loving family, David Evans went to meet the Lord on Nov. 1, 2009. Since 2005 he had served as Executive Director of the Plainview/Hale County Industrial Foundation. For the previous 29 years he had served in several capacities with TXU. He had his Economic Development Certification from the International Economic Council in Washington, DC, was a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and Business from Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

Evans was born in Brownwood and grew up on a peanut and cattle ranch in San Saba County where his parents still live. He graduated from Richland Springs High School.

He served as board president of the Texas Rural Leadership Program and was on the Texas Economic Development Council's Rural Affairs Committee, has been President of the Dallas Agricultural Club, Professional Agriculture workers of Texas and the Texas Allied Poultry Association; was vice president of the East Texas Farm and Ranch Association; chairman of the Mid Tex Farm and Ranch Show; superintendent of the State Fair of Texas Livestock Committee; and served on the Texas Food and Fiber Board. He was a member of the Plainview Lions Club and through the years has also been a member of Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs.

David was born on July 20, 1953. He married Linda McKee on Nov. 23, 1973. David is survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Nathan of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Emily of Chicago, Ill.; his parents, Junior and Bonnie Evans of Richland Springs, Tx.; and a sister, Melissa Evans of Arlington, Tx.

Services for David will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. David will be taken to San Saba, Tx., on Friday, November 6, 2009. Services for David will be held at 2 p.m. at Richland Springs First Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Fikes officiating. Burial will be at China Creek Cemetery under the Direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
