Elm Grove Echoes

It appears that we are in for some beautiful Fall weather this week. Everything is still so pretty and green.

We are beginning yet another new month. The Busy Bee quilting club will have a Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 10th. If you would like to know what to bring, call our president, Marilyn Miller.

The 42 tournament will be Saturday, Nov. 14th at Shiloh. The Elm Grove community meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 21st at 7:30 PM. Plans will be made for the Christmas party on December 19th. Hostesses for the community meeting are Valerie Gossett and Jolynn Tharp.

We had 19 people at our house for Halloween supper and a surprise birthday party for Ken Parson. Some of us stayed home to watch the UT and Oklahoma game while the rest piled into the pickup and went trick-or-treating. The trick-or-treaters ranged in age from 5 to 70. We all had a good time and Ken was tickled in spite of some of the less than flattering gifts he received.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of David Evans of Levelland. David was born and reared in Elm Grove, the son of Bonnie and Jr. Evans. His funeral will be Friday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Richland Springs with interment at the China Creek Cemetery. A lunch will be served at the church at 11:30 AM with visitation to follow before the funeral service. David was a well liked young man and has fought a valiant fight for years against cancer. He will be missed by all who knew him. We send our deepest sympathy to all his family.

The Richland Springs Coyotes sealed the district title last Friday night by defeating Santa Anna by a score of 87-19 in the first half of the game. The Coyotes now travel to Veribest this week for their last regular season game.
