Indians Steamroll Eagles

The Cherokee Indians took no chances on letting the Lohn Eagles steal a victory from them last Friday night. The Indians scored on every possession while the defense allowed only one score as they ran all over the Lohn Eagles, 62-8. The game was called at halftime. Tucker Corsi had a big night scoring 6 touchdowns, kicking 4 PATs, and recovering one fumble.

The scoreboard lit up early and often in the 1st quarter. Corsi scored first on a 36 yard run. The Indian’s next score was on a 45 yard pass reception and run by Mikey Smith from Nieves Solis. Lohn caught the Indian secondary sleeping and scored on a 44 yard pass play and kicked the PAT to make the score 12-8. The Indian defense buckled down and didn’t allow anymore points by the Eagles. Corsi’s next touchdown came on a 39 yard run. Corsi added the PAT. The next Eagle possession ended on a fumble recovery by Corsi. Corsi finished off the possession with a 9 yard touchdown run. The Indians lead was extended to 26-8.

Josh Perry sparked the Indians in the 2nd quarter as he came up with an Eagle fumble. Perry ended the drive with a 15 yard TD reception from Solis. Corsi added the PAT. Corsi scored the next Indian TD on a 21 yard run. Perry recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff to set up Corsi’s next TD, a 16 yard run. Corsi’s PAT was good. The Indians were up 48-8. Corsi scored his sixth TD of the evening on a 39 yard run and kicked the PAT. Steven Austermann finished off the scoring with 10 seconds left in the half on a 2 yard run.

The Indians will play their last regular season game Friday night at home against the district leading, # 8 ranked Panther Creek Panthers. Kickoff is 7:30. Come out early, be loud, and help the Indians upset the Panthers.
